How to Remove Blackheads in 3 Steps

Blackheads are bump on the skin usually black in color which results due to excessive oil production. This is actually excessive production of sebum in the skin which gets aggravated by dirt, grime and pollution as well as other irritants such as make-up, lotions or perspiration, leading to blackheads.

Blackheads generally become swollen when infected, resulting in more painful pimples. There are several reasons of the infection including forcing the blackhead to come out, scrubbing the area vigorously and improper skin care routine.

Simply speaking, blackheads are caused due to oxidation of skin oil production with the dirt accumulated in the pores of the skin. The dirt actually causes the black color to appear on blackheads. The condition can affect anyone, male or female. Though it does affect most people during adolescence, it is an ongoing process and can occur at any stage of life. The condition generally affects people with an oily skin more due to excessive production oil accompanied by open pores.

Dirt when accumulated in the pores becomes hardened and is difficult to remove. If removed after a long time it may also result in large holes on your skin. Taking some simple steps and including them in your skin care routine will help remove blackheads effectively. Here three very simple steps to get rid off blackheads easily.

Step 1 –Scrubbing – Scrubbing helps exfoliate the skin, thus removing dead cells.
• Use a facial scrub to exfoliate your face. Do not scrub vigorously. Use gentle motions of your hand and rub softly. Most facial scrubs provide good exfoliating action without applying too much pressure.
• Focus on those areas of the skin which have a larger concentration of blackheads. This may include your nose, forehead, chin and cheeks.
• Rinse your face with slightly warm water.

Step 2 –Facial Steam
• Place a pot of water on the stove and add two tablespoons of baking soda. Heat the mixture till it starts boiling.
• Drape a large towel on your head; make sure no strand of hair come on your face. Steam your face for about 5 minutes.
• This will open up the pores of your skin as well as soften your skin. This makes extraction of blackheads very easy.

Step 3 – Extracting the Blackheads
• Wash your hands with a disinfectant. Gently squeeze on either side of the blackhead till the dirt comes out completely.
• Use a blackhead extractor to extract deep stubborn blackheads. Slowly and gently press down on the blackhead till it comes out completely.
• Apply astringent on the area from where blackhead has been removed to sterilize it. Use a clean cotton ball.

These steps can be easily carried out at home to conveniently remove blackheads. Apart from this, you must also take steps to prevent blackheads from recurring. Make sure you cleanse your face regularly. Your skin care routine must include washing the face, scrubbing, toning and moisturizing. Maintaining proper hygiene is one of the best and least expensive methods of preventing blackheads
