Difference Between Various Printers

The use of computing in daily life – at home, in offices, schools, and various establishments there are different types of printers. The main types of printers used are – ink-jet or bubble jet printers, laser printers, dot-matrix printers, LCD and LED printers, solid ink printers, Dye Sublimation printers, Portable printers, Plotters or Design jet printers, Copiers, Digital Photo printers, Network printer, Wireless printer, Multifunction printers, CD/DVD printer or Disk producer, POS or Point-of-sale receipt and banking printers, Label Printers, VersaLaser, and 3D Printers.

Ink-jets printers print by spraying very small and ionized droplets of ink (HP Ink) on a page by means of magnetic plates. In case of laser printer, such as a laser beam prints the image on a drum and this electronically charged drum picks up color when rolled in a pool of Brother Ink or HP Ink. By way of heat and pressure, the drum ink is passed on the paper. These printers are fast and do fine printing. LED and LCD printers are electro photographic printers and very similar to laser printers in many ways. In LCD/liquid crystal display and LED/light-emitting diode printers, a laser is replaced by a light source for creating image on the drum which produce very high quality print outs. The dot-matrix printers have a set of closely distributed pins, Brother Ink, and a ribbon for printing on a page. These printers work just as a typewriter and are mostly used for printing shipping forms, invoices, labels, purchase orders, and other multi-part forms.

Solid-ink printers give enhanced color uniformity that can vary a little by change in paper quality, humidity, and temperature. Dye Sublimation printers are used in mug, license plates, and similar hard surface printing. Plotters or Designjet (both flatbed plotters and drum plotters) are used for technical drawings such as engineering drawings or architectural blueprints.

Portable printers are lightweight and the types available are - thermal printer, thermal transfer printer, and ink-jet printer. Then as mentioned above are Copiers, Digital Photo printers, Network printer, Wireless printer, Multifunction printers, CD/DVD printer, POS printers, Label Printers, VersaLaser, and 3D Printers
